
Tori Kerr, LMSW
Psychotherapist
Tori Kerr is a psychotherapist and substance use specialist. She is a graduate of the University of Maryland School of Social Work, where she obtained her master’s degree in Clinical Social Work and was awarded a fellowship for students working in the field of substance use treatment. Her undergraduate education is in English and creative writing from George Washington University.
Tori’s therapeutic approach is rooted in psychodynamic theory, centering clients’ personal histories to better understand their present challenges. Her work is relational and includes interpersonal dynamics that present in the therapy space. She strives to create a therapeutic relationship that feels safe, collaborative, and supportive. Tori’s nonjudgmental and creative style is supplemented by other evidence-based practices such as narrative and cognitive therapy. Overall, Tori utilizes a social justice framework to her care, using a holistic view of how our identities and experiences shape our stories.
Tori has clinical experience at both the outpatient and intensive outpatient levels of care treating adolescents and adults. She has experience treating individuals with depression, anxiety, trauma, and substance use and other addictive behaviors. She is passionate about treating teenagers and their families, and enjoys working with care providers, such as physicians, nurses, and those in the veterinary field. She provides individual therapy, family therapy, and group therapy, including a support group for friends and family members of people struggling with addictive behaviors.
