College Counseling:
The college admissions process has become stressful and complicated, not only for students but for their families as well. Dr. Heidi Carlson strives to guide students through the college application process with the main goal of maximizing options while minimizing anxiety. As an experienced college counselor, Dr. Carlson is knowledgeable on the various academic requirements, deadlines, supporting documents required, and testing requirements. Students will be provided with one on one attention to identify colleges that meet the criteria of students as well as parents. Ultimately, a list including “reach,” “target,” and “safety” schools will be identified. Students will be guided in the application presentation including assistance with all application essays from topic development to final edits as well as interview techniques, and additional strategies for admission. In order to help organize the process a customized spreadsheet of all applications and supporting documents, due dates will be created.

Study Groups:
We believe academic success is best achieved as part of a community of learners. For that reason, Healthy Foundations offers small study groups for high school students. Study groups are a place to work on challenging concepts and learn from each other. Dr. Heidi Carlson will facilitate these small groups of 4 to 5 students. She has 14 years of tutoring experience as well as teaching study skills, organizational skills, and executive functioning strategies.

One-on-One Tutoring:

Dr. Heidi Carlson provides support and one on one tutoring in a variety of subjects, including English, History Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II.
